Behind the Glass Curtain – Our Story

Oceanside Glasstile is the world’s leading glass and glass tile manufacturing company, excited to be a part of your design journey. Born in 1992 and raised in San Diego, we are a pioneering, innovative company with a fun loving edge. We are many things beyond beautiful tile, and we aspire to a different model of consumption – one that puts social responsibility and personal values on equal footing in the adventure of creating your home. Scroll down to learn about our artisan heritage, our love for design, the planet, our community and our team.

We live and breathe the artisan heritage that founded Oceanside Glasstile. Dating as far back as the 60’s, a group of friends connected by surfing and glass blowing joined forces to create soulful art. Lead by innovation and compelled by their infatuation with fire, a partnership formed, paving the way to our radiant tiles. That heritage has been passed down to the artisans who hand-make our tiles today. Honoring your investment in a product with the utmost quality, each one of these dedicated folks adds their personal touch to every tile they craft. As a result, the tile literally smiles back at you from every surface it graces.

Timeless design – art that speaks for itself. Inspiration speaks to us in many ways. It radiates from the iridescent sheen. It is honesty in the cool, clear tiles that is unveiled in sunlight. It is elegance shown through clean lines in horizontal repose. It is the sculpted dimensions that create music for your eyes. Brilliance and simplicity transcend into a personal expression as this handcrafted aesthetic whispers your secrets…

“Cheers!” It’s the first word our glass hears before beginning its journey to up-cycled glory. Recycling is in our DNA, and each year we melt more than 2 million pounds of post-consumer bottle glass. The result – a gem-like substance crafted into stunning glass tile. We continuously strive for improvements in energy efficiency, and maintain a closed loop manufacturing process where we re-melt all of our own glass trimmings. We are always on the lookout for more ways to make Mother Nature proud.

Manufacturing innovative products with a sustainable process is an important business value, but…that’s just where the fun begins. Encouraged by the  leadership of the company, our employees support all kinds of causes both near and far, they reach out to our community and to communities beyond our borders. Embracing social responsibility, we find joy in restoring orphanages, building schools, planting new trees and collaborating with the generation of tomorrow. All the good vibes from our volunteer work helps drive our passion for adding beauty to the world.

We celebrate our individuality and revel in our unity. We too are adventure seekers, philanthropists, quirky— hippy-health nuts, marathon runners, LAUGH OUT LOUDers, art collectors, doggie lovers, wine connoisseurs, surfers and so much more. These are the pursuits that pervade our shared experience and inspire us to connect with you.

  1. HI, Gorgeous tile!!! Wow, so many and so unique and amazing! I just ordered 5 x 5 Infinite Iridescent #055 and some trim in the same for my kitchen back splash. I was wondering if you make switch plates in that same tile? (this is from a sample, not 5 x 5, but on that swatch card, it’s #130567, PC #126108).

If so, what do they cost per item? I would need some “rocker style” single as well as double plates.
